LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D-9) and 9th District resident Kentucky State Treasurer Todd Hollenbach are working to locate some people who may not know they have a financial treasure waiting for them. On Saturday, June 18, “Treasure Finders” will attempt to locate Ninth District residents who may have unclaimed property or money they are entitled to but are unaware that such treasures need to be claimed.
“I am looking forward to partnering with State Treasurer Hollenbach to return more than $4 million dollars just to 9th District residents,” says Ward-Pugh. “In order to be successful we need volunteers to help us out.”
The volunteers will meet at the Clifton Center on Saturday, June 18th from 10:00am until 2:00pm to make telephone calls to Ninth District residents who have been identified as having unclaimed money in the amount of $100 or more.
Residents who receive a phone call can then come to the Clifton Center to begin the paperwork necessary to claim the “treasure” or they will be given the paperwork to start on another day.
“In these tough economic times being made aware of this unclaimed money will no doubt be helpful,” says Ward-Pugh. “Many times people just don’t know the Commonwealth of Kentucky has millions of dollars in these unclaimed accounts. I am glad to help connect the treasure with its rightful owner.”
